Every day it draws near, glittered twigs and multicolored lights I seek Like a child,
I impatiently wait for the time to decorate my tree.
I’ll hang a wreath by the door and put mistletoe on the wall.
I excitedly wrap all the gifts I am giving and anticipate the cards
I will receive For only once this year Christmas is coming to me.
Eagerly I count the days of when I can finally taste my mother’s ham and cake.
I know we’ll sip cocoa and take pure delight by just looking at the deep dark sky.
We’ll take the blankets out and enjoy the cold December air talking until the crack of dawn.
We’ll talk some more and come morning light, we are ready for French toasts and cinnamon rolls.
We’ll let the day pass by just singing and having fun forgetting all the worries of yesterday, for today we celebrate Christmas day.
We’ll bake gingerbread biscuits and listen to children’s carol, we’ll drink some wine and have a wonderful time with friends and family we’ll talk about the child born in a manger who was visited by angels.
We’ll discuss how little he is but was destined to do the greatest surrender there is in all mankind. We’ll appreciate this day more than ever for we are brought together as a family who loves and cares for one another.
Not only we’ll we talk about us and our lives but most especially we’ll talk about others who’s Christmas is celebrated only in their hearts and minds.
They may lack fortune not a single penny/dime to spend but they have the gift of love despite the shortcomings.
We’ll see how we can help them in any way we can it really doesn’t matter if the help is big or small but for an intention so divine God must be really thrilled to learn them all.
So in between the gift giving all the cooking and the gatherings let us not just think about the things we will receive but also let us put to heart what Christmas really mean.
